Dr Mark Bannatyne jest specjalistą z zakresu grafiki komputerowej. Od ponad 10 lat związany jest z Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis – IUPUI (USA), gdzie pełnił min. funkcję kierownika Katedry Technologii Projektowania i Komunikacji oraz kierownika Katedry Technologii Inżynierii Mechanicznej, działających w Purdue School of Technology – w kampusie IUPUI w Indianapolis. Przed rozpoczęciem współpracy z IUPUI, związany był z kampusem Purdue University w West Lafayette (Indiana, USA), gdzie uzyskał w 1995 r. tytuł doktora.

Dorastał w Kanadzie i ukończył tam British Columbia Institute of Technology. Jest również absolwentem Utah State University (USA), w którym uzyskał dyplomy Bachelor of Science i Master of Science. W czasie swojej kariery zawodowej wykładał w wielu uczelniach w USA.

Dr Bannatyne jest aktywnym członkiem wielu stowarzyszeń zawodowych, min. American Society of Engineering Education, Epsilon Pi Tau Honorary Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society oraz AMC SIGGRAPH. Ponadto prowadzi rozległą działalność międzynarodową, współpracując z instytucjami min. w Polsce, Rosji i Wielkiej Brytanii. W latach 2000, 2002 i 2011 był stypendystą Komisji Fulbrighta. Jesienią 2011 r. pełnił na WSKiZ obowiązki profesora wizytującego, w ramach tego właśnie stypendium, prowadząc zajęcia ze studentami WSKiZ i warsztaty dla nauczycieli szkół ponadgimnazjalnych oraz odwiedzając prawie 20 szkół ponadgimnazjalnych w całej Wielkopolsce w ramach cyklu warsztatów grafiki komputerowej. Jest autorem i współautorem wielu opracowań naukowych dotyczących edukacji inżynierskiej i grafiki komputerowej.

Prywatnie jest mężem Tatiany Juriewnej z Tuły, z którą ma troje dzieci. Włada biegle językiem rosyjskim. Pasjonują go opera, teatr i film oraz historia technologii, a przede wszystkim hokej na lodzie – jest wiernym fanem Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jak co roku, na przełomie maja i czerwca 2016 r., prof. Bannatyne wraz z grupą studentów z IUPUI będzie gościł na WSKiZ, prowadząc warsztaty z zakresu grafiki komputerowej adresowane do uczniów szkół ponadgimnazjalnych oraz studentów WSKiZ i innych uczelni.


Dr. Mark W. Mck. Bannatyne is a specialist in computer graphics. For the past over 10 years he has been working at the University Purdue University Indianapolis – IUPUI (USA) where, among others, he performed the duties of the chair of the Department of Design and Communications Technology, and before that the chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, at the Purdue School of Technology – IUPUI campus. Prior to his current involvement with the IUPUI, he worked at the Purdue University – West Lafayette campus, where he was granted Ph.D. degree in 1995.

Dr. Bannatyne grew up in Canada and graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He is also an alumnus of the Utah State University, where he received his BS and MS degrees. During his career, he lectured in many schools around the USA, and the world.

Dr. Bannatyne is also an active member of many professional associations, such as: American Society of Engineering Education, Epsilon Pi Tau Honorary Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and AMC SIGGRAPH. He is very proud of his extensive international work, during which he has collaborated with institutions in Poland, Russia and UK, among others. In 2000, 2002, and 2011 he was a scholar of the Fulbright Commission. In 2011, during his Fulbright assignment to Poland, he held the position of the visiting professor at Wyższa Szkoła Komunikacji i Zarządznia (WSKiZ) in Poznań, Poland. In that time he instructed computer graphics workshops aimed at WSKiZ students, and also at public schools teachers and pupils. In the fall 2011 he visited almost 20 schools in the province of Wielkopolska (Poland). He is an author and co-author of many scientific papers on engineering and computer graphics education.

In his private life, Dr. Bannatyne is married to Tatiana Yurievna of Tula (Russia), with whom he has 3 children. He speaks Russian fluently. His interests include opera, theater and movies, as well as technology history, and most of all: ice hockey – he has been a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In May and June 2016, like every year, Dr. Bannatyne and a group of his students from IUPUI will be visiting WSKiZ in Poznań, Poland, offering computer graphics workshops for public schools pupils, and college students.
